Young Women Into Leadership (You WIL) is an exciting initiative to inspire, nurture and encourage 14-16-year-old girls to develop leadership qualities. It is a unique opportunity to help you develop your leadership skills and will also connect you with girls from Birmingham’s sister cities in Chicago, Johannesburg, Leipzig, Milan, Changchun, Guangzhou and Nanjing. All participating girls will receive a certificate of participation.

You WIL is born out of a collaboration between Birmingham City Council, Aston University and the US Embassy in London. The initiative will be held exclusively on-line in 2021 to enable participation during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Each day, girls will be invited to join a two-hour online session with inspirational women leaders in the field of Politics, Sport, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), Industry and Culture. The girls from Birmingham’s International Sister Cities will be working alongside Birmingham girls to develop presentations on a given theme. Mentors from Aston University will support the girls to develop these presentations which will be shared with US Embassy staff and senior political representatives from Birmingham on Monday 2nd August.
