USA Track & Field confirms Birmingham training camp

The governing body for athletics in the US “USA Track & Field” have confirmed that their training camp in order to prepare for the IAAF World Championships in London this summer will be based in Birmingham.

It won’t be the first time that USATF are training in Birmingham, they did so in preparation for the London Olympic Games 2012 already, where the city hosted training camps for both USA Track and Fields and Jamaica.

The camp will be co-ordinated by Birmingham City Council, with a variety of partners to make sure all training and accommodation needs are met.

The athletes from overseas may also take part in community events, which will hopefully inspire young people from across Birmingham and beyond and also have a valuable economic impact for the city.

USATF is also expected to send a large team to the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham 2018, which will be held at the same arena.
