BCA participation in the Lord Mayor’s Show, 12 June 2016

On Sunday the 12th of June, Birmingham celebrated the annual Lord Mayor’s Show, the highlight of Birmingham City Council’s civic calendar, where the city welcomed the new Lord Mayor, Councillor Carl Rice and Lady Mayoress Mrs. Deed Curry. Despite the inclement weather with constant rain, the Birmingham Commonwealth Association had a prominent role throughout the day.

The opening of the event was marked by a parade of volunteers assembled by the BCA carrying Commonwealth flags. The parade was led by the Dhol Drummers, ahead of the Lord Mayor on his vintage bus.

During the parade, the Lord Mayor expressed his gratitude towards the volunteers for their support in making the event a success in his inaugural speech at the event. Cleone Foods kindly provided refreshments for the flag carrying volunteers.
