Birmingham takes part in Leipzig’s first International Children and Youth Art Exhibition, 3 – 17 July 2015

Our sister city Leipzig celebrates its 1000th anniversary this year. A rich programme of events has been put together by Leipzig and we are proud to be a part of some of them. Recently, Birmingham was invited to take part in the Leipzig’s first International Children and Youth Art Exhibition.

During the month of May, Children from Leipzig sister cities were submitting their art work under a common theme: neighbourhood. The exhibition will not only show the work of young artists from different countries but also convey the history and the different living conditions and needs. The idea is that each image will not only make an artistic but also a social statement. Birmingham sent art work submitted by two primary schools and one nursery that collaborated with the ICON Gallery. Work submitted included collages, paintings and photography.

Children art work will be displayed in the New Town Hall in Leipzig from 3 to 17 July 2015.
