We are very proud to have the youngest-ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in our city. Malala Yousafzai won the award in recognition of her “heroic struggle” for girls’ rights to education. In her speech delivered at the Library of Birmingham on the day she received the prize, she thanked her school and her fellow pupils for their love and support.
Cllr Shafique Shah, Lord Mayor of Birmingham joined in the celebrations saying, “Malala is a brave, inspirational and very special young woman who richly deserves this latest accolade.”
