Launch of new EU project to develop intelligent transport systems

Birmingham City Council is part of a new EU funded research and development project which was launched in December 2013 in Lyon. Led by Greater Lyon, the OPTICITIES project will develop and test intelligent transport systems (ITS) solutions in six different cities to help reduce congestion and improve journey times.

OPTICITIES is supported by the EU Framework 7 programme and brings together 25 partners from across Europe (6 cities, as well as service providers, the car industry, research laboratories and major European networks) and will pave the way towards smarter urban mobility.
