The Association of Jamaican Nationals together with Birmingham City Council will be working closely with the Jamaican community to host a free open-air Jamaica street festival on Victoria Square and Upper New Street.
In the context of the 55th anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence, the Jamaican athletes participation in the 2017 world games and their Birmingham training camp experience, Jamaica in the Square II will celebrate the best of the Jamaican diaspora’s culture through cultural activities, entertainment, arts & craft and Jamaican food.
The event will be a visual demonstration of the strong links that have been established between Birmingham and Jamaica. The last Jamaica in the Square (2012) was a roaring success with over 250,000 guests attending the 5 day festival.
The event is scheduled to take place from the 4th to the 6th August 2017 culminating with a live concert on the Sunday marking Jamaican Independence Day.
Please find below the programme of the event.
We look forward to seeing you there !
